Why choose a Personal Trainer?

Why choose a PT2

If any of the following apply to you, then I think I can help:

You Don't Know Where to Start

Knowing how to set up a balanced schedule that includes all the activities you need to do can be confusing. I can help you maximize your time while helping you stay within your own limits so you don't overdo it. I can also help you set goals and map out a specific schedule so you know when, how and where you'll fit in your workouts.

You Need to Be Challenged

We can all slack off from time to time. We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t! I can help motivate you to push past self-imposed limits, encouraging you to lift heavier, go longer and challenge yourself more than you would on your own. You'll find it's very hard to slack off with me standing next to you, telling you to do just...one...more!

You're Not Seeing Results

If you've been exercising consistently for several weeks or months and aren't seeing the changes you'd like, hiring a trainer may be a good choice. Together we can look at your current programme and eating habits and help you see where you could make changes to create more effective workouts. I can also help determine if the goals you've set are realistic.

You Need Accountability and Motivation

I come with built-in motivation. Not only are you investing money into your exercise programme – you're investing time as well. There's nothing like a standing appointment to get you motivated for a workout. Not only that – I will provide some accountability so, even when you don't have a session, you know I will be asking if you did your planned training. Just knowing that may make it harder to skip your workouts.

Female-Focused Training

You’re looking for a female-focused fitness trainer to work in a non-judgemental environment, who is mindful of the changes a woman’s body goes through and can design you a safe and appropriate exercise programme. My special interests are pre- and post-natal, diastasis (post-baby tummy-gap), pelvic floor / core dysfunction and exercising during menopause. Underlying all of this is nutrition for healing, hormonal balance and weight loss.

You're Bored with the Same Old Workouts

If you're an experienced exerciser, maybe you haven't considered working with a trainer. But it can be a great choice if you need some variety in your workouts. I can help bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to challenge both your body and your mind.

You Want to Learn How to Exercise on your Own

Even if your goal is to create your own workouts and exercise by yourself, hiring me for a few sessions can be a great benefit for learning the right way to exercise. This is especially true if you want to learn more about the muscles in your body, the exercises that target those muscles and how to do those exercises with great form. Just a few sessions can teach you a lot about your body and how it works.

You are Pre- or Post-Natal and Want to Exercise in a Safe and Appropriate Way

Pre- and post-natal women offer unique exercise challenges, but they are just that – challenges, not barriers. I am qualified in designing exercise programmes for pre- and post-natal women, so will be delighted to help you with a safe, effective workout to keep you fit and healthy during pregnancy and get you back into shape and fit for all the challenges of motherhood in the post-natal period.

What to expect from a PT

What to expect from a Personal Trainer

From the outset I will ask you to identify what your goals are. I will then work with you to develop an exercise programme that is realistic and fun. A key aim is that you enjoy the activities we do; this will keep you on track for achieving your goals and maintaining them.

I will also ask you to keep a food diary and provide you with healthy eating advice, if needed, which will complement your exercise programme. Be under no illusions that if weight loss is your goal it will be the increase in physical activities and healthy eating which will deliver this – they go hand in hand.

I will come to you, taking the hassle out of travelling to a gym or studio. You can either choose to be in the comfort of your own home or we can meet at your local park or other location. All equipment is provided and I will also give you customised workouts so you can practise your exercises between sessions.

At the start of training I will ask you to complete a lifestyle questionnaire and medical screening. I will also offer you fitness testing which will enable you to track what progress is being made and keep you motivated.

My approach is non judgmental, supportive and fun. I truly believe that where there is a will, there is a way – I have been known to incorporate the kids into my workouts as it’s been the only way of getting some exercise in my day!
